Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has called on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to clarify on whose orders the alleged attack on Member of Parliament Swati Maliwal by his former personal secretary, Bibhav Kumar, was carried out.

Chugh emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “At the residence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, the dignity of a woman was assaulted. His own MP was beaten with sticks while pleading for mercy.” He further added that medical reports confirmed Maliwal had sustained internal injuries, urging Kejriwal to come clean on whose instructions Kumar acted.

The incident has also raised questions about the silence of leaders from the opposition INDIA bloc, including Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Rahul Gandhi, with Chugh questioning their reluctance to speak out.

Bibhav Kumar, Kejriwal’s former aide, has been detained by Delhi Police and reportedly expressed his readiness to cooperate in the investigation, while also submitting a counter-complaint. In his complaint, he accused Maliwal of unauthorized entry to the CM’s residence, verbal abuse, and threats.

Rekha Sharma, the chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW), also reacted, suggesting that Kumar had been sheltered by the Delhi Chief Minister, and demanded an explanation for the incident.

Meanwhile, Delhi Minister and AAP leader Atishi countered the allegations, claiming that Swati Maliwal’s filing of the FIR was orchestrated by the BJP, using an old Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) case as leverage.

Maliwal, in her own complaint, described a harrowing assault by Kumar, alleging that he slapped her several times, kicked her in the chest, stomach, and pelvis, and dragged her while she screamed for help.

This controversy surrounds the termination of Bibhav Kumar’s services by the Delhi government’s Vigilance Department last month due to a pending criminal case.
